JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary
The IT Manager is responsible and accountable for the smooth running of our computer and data systems within the limits of requirements, specifications, costs, and timelines. This person will also oversee the efficient implementation and maintenance of the sector’s IT needs, ensuring secure operation throughout every department.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Plan, organize, control and evaluate IT and electronic data operations.
2. Design, develop, implement and/or coordinate systems, policies and procedures as required.
3. Select and implement suitable technology to streamline all internal operations and help optimize their strategic benefits.
4. Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems.
5. Lead on IT projects as required.
6. Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational efficiency.
7. Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions.
8. Audit systems and assess their effectiveness.
9. Preserve assets, information security and control structures.
10. Prepare IT annual budget.
11. Manage IT staff by recruiting, training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance.
12. Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures.
13. Perform any other job duties as required by the job function.

Minimum Education and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, or related discipline. A Masters degree will be considered an asset.

Experience
At least eight (8) years’ related experience in similar environment.
Experience managing an IT team.
Demonstrated record of analysing and implementing technology to solve business needs.

Or any equivalent combination of qualification and experience


Knowledge
Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems.
Expertise in data centre management and data governance.
Experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation.
