Responsible for assisting with the day-to day operations of the HR Department

Human Resource Officer

 

We are looking to employ an HR Officer with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Reporting to the Group HR Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the Company’s Human Resource Information System and provide support to the department in its efforts to deliver superior service to our employees and external stakeholders. The HR officer is expected to be knowledgeable with employment legislation and possess strategic and commercial insight to the labour process.

 

HR Officer Responsibilities:

 

  • Assists with staff engagement and communication activities.
  • Managing the employment process.
  • Orientating new employees and training existing employees.
  • Monitoring employee performance management system.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintaining of HR policies and procedures/Staff Handbook.
  • Overseeing the health and safety of all employees.
  • Assist with disciplinary matters
  • Implementing systematic staff development procedures.
  • Providing counselling on policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring meticulous implementation and execution of payroll and benefits administration.
  • Processing of monthly and fortnightly payrolls.
  • Maintaining HR Management Information System.
  • Manages all stakeholder requests.
  • Ensuring accurate and proper record-keeping of employee information in electronic and digital format.

 

HR Officer Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management (HRM), Business Administration or other related discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in HRM.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in payroll processing (using a payroll Software)
  • Additional training/certification in Payroll Management – may be advantageous.
  • Labour Relations certification – may be advantageous.
  • Working Knowledge of Jamaican Labour Laws.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Full understanding of HR functions and best practices.
  • Experiencing using an HR Management Information System (Odoo) and Payroll software (Biz Pay) may be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Jamaican payroll taxes, calculations, rates, and formulas.
