Massy Wood is currently recruiting for an HSSE Officer with significant experience in the oil and gas industry.

 

Overview / Responsibilites

 

The HSSE Officer is responsible for developing, executing, coordinating and controlling HSSE programs for the area, guaranteeing the compliance with the HSSE policies, standards and established systems within the company.

 

  • Communicate at all levels of the organisation on interpretation, development, implementation and continuous improvement of Massy Wood Group HSSE Program.
  • Flexibility to perform Offshore, Onshore and Projects assignments at various locations as deemed necessary.
  • Conduct contractor site visit and perform site inspection and/or audit.
  • Complete HSSE pre-qualification requirements to new and existing services.
  • Rate accurately contractors based on questionnaire.
  • Submit to SCM contractor HSSE evaluation report.
  • Provide selection feedback required from SCM based on evaluations.
  • Attend and conduct HSSE training as assigned.
  • Attend all required meetings and advise managers regarding planning, implementation and follow-up of Massy Wood Group HSSE activities. 
  • Train and coach employees enabling them to implement and apply continuous improvement for effectiveness of Massy Wood Group HSSE Programme.
  • Meet or exceed the established Safety Management Audit performance goals.
  • Meet or exceed all internal and external HSSE goals/objectives.
  • Collect and report all necessary HSSE Leading and Trailing Indicator information.
  • Attend and participate in weekly ASA audit with management team.
  • Collect and maintain accurate Recordkeeping files, electronic and hard copy.
  • Gather and analyse assessment results to determine risk and implement effective controls to minimise risk.
  • Achieve 80% supervisory Safety Leadership Training.
  • Provide summary reports on verification progress, findings, and status on closeout of improvement actions.
  • Organise and lead HSSE Assessments.
  • Serve internal and external clients in such a manner as to promote proactive HSSE Excellence.
  • Develop and deliver to field-level and office staff Massy Wood Group & Quality introductory and various training.
  • In coordination with supervisor, determine own work methods and set short/long term goals for Development & Implementation of HSSE policies and procedures to meet Corporate Business objectives for Massy Wood Group.
  • Provide direction and support to supervisors and employees.
  • Continue to improve project and subcontractor HSSE performance.
  • Recommend areas for Development, Implementation, Continuous Improvement and Certification activities and programs.
  • Conduct a minimum of 20 audits per month.
  • Complete, with input from the HSSE Coordinator, the performance appraisal, both interim and annual.
  • Identify and communicate the “new” high impact injury reduction techniques.
  • Support and implement case management strategies.
  • Heighten attention to high impact safety incentive projects.
  • Participate in and deploy HSSE knowledge to the community.
  • Retain and enhance internal and external customer relationship by increasing perceived value of services through customer education and services.
  • Implement world class HSSE performance and services.
  • Maintain professional development.
  • Improve work processes through available technology.
  • Maintain professional conduct on and off the job.
  • Adhere to the company’s established policies and procedures.
  • Perform all other related job functions as required.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health from a recognised university
  • National Examination Board of Safety and Health (NEBOSH) Certificate/Diploma from a recognised Certified Safety Professional Board
  • A minimum of six (6) years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Exposure at an operational location associated with Oil/Gas exploration, production and or processing, preferably in a line position.
  • Broad knowledge of HSSE regulations (TT laws, API, OSHA, NFPA, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14000).
  • Knowledge of occupational health.
  • Actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Working knowledge of Computer Applications including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
