Manage the Company’s HSE strategies and systems to positively, proactively and comprehensively deliver the HSE strategic targets and reduce the level of risk and exposure.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement HSE strategies, business plans, budget and initiatives to achieve strategic HSE objectives and manage HSE compliances
  • Lead and coordinate HSE staff and resources for delivery of identified departmental indicators
  • Develop and implement training/coaching programs for direct reports to ensure employees are conducting job functions to the best of their abilities
  • Develop/review HSE policies, procedures and action plans and makes recommendations accordingly
  • Provide advice to clients and stakeholders (internal and external) on HSE issues and interpretation of HSE legislation
  • Investigate HSE related incidents
  • Develop strategies to foster and encourage a safe work place culture through training programs and education to build awareness, capability and promote compliance
  • Develop reports as required
  • Represent the HSE Department at relevant meetings and provide input to the HSE Committee and at Departmental meetings
  • Oversee the installation of HSE equipment/material and the maintenance of appropriate stock levels in accordance with HSE standard
  • Oversee checks and attain reports on the readiness of apparatus, equipment and facilities and ensure their preparedness in case of emergencies
  • Generate inspection and corrective action reports and monitors closure of corrective measures
  • Conduct HSE audits; review and approve HSE inspections and audit reports
  • Implementation of mitigation strategies for risks/exposures to Company, property and personnel
  • Develop and implement Risk Management strategies for improvements in the HSE Management system through programs such as Hazard registers, Risk registers and site specific Emergency Response plans
  • Conduct and/or coordinate accident investigations, analysis of findings and make recommendation to prevent re-occurrence
  • Supervise and manage a productive work team, conduct Performance Appraisals and Recommend employees for awards
  • Maintain knowledge of benchmarks and industry best practices for maintaining relevance and continuous improvement
  • Maintain industry, stakeholder and professional networks to profile the Company externally

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • BSc Degree in Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Sciences or other related discipline
  • 5+ years’ experience in the field of HSE of which at least 2 years must be at a managerial or senior supervisory experience
  • ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor Course will be an asset
  • ISO 45001 Occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system will be an asset
  • First Aid and CPR Certification
