The Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel located in Kingston, Jamaica, is seeking warm, enthusiastic, service-oriented individuals with a great attitude to join our team in the following roles:
- Cashier
- Server
- Chef- Gaming Lounge
- Houseman
- Housekeeper
- Supervisor- Gaming Lounge (previous applicants for this position need not re-apply)
Cashier Requirements:
- Ability to perform duties with minimum error
- Ability to clearly speak and listen attentively to all customers.
- Ability to perform duties that require speed, efficiency and organizational skills.
- High School certificate
- At least one year experience in similar capacity
- Mathematical (computation) skills
- Computer literate
- Excellent calculating skills
- Ability to work holidays and weekends
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Report to work on a timely basis
Sever candidate requirements:
- NVQ-J Level 1 or 2 certificate in Food and Beverage or similar certification from a recognized training institution
- Three CXC subjects including English Language
- For bartending, mixology certification or experience an asset.
- At least one year experience in a similar capacity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
Houseman/ Housekeeper Requirements:
- Certification and/or experience in housekeeping
- Must have a great attitude.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Great communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
Chef Reguirements:
- Proven work experience as a Chef or Cook
- Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment
- Advanced knowledge of culinary techniques
- Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks
- Excellent time management abilities
- Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes
- Familiarity with sanitation regulations
- Culinary diploma or certification required
Supervisor- Gaming Lounge
Responsible for monitoring all activity on the floor at a gaming establishment. Supervising patrons, handling complaints, attending to machines, and ensuring quality customer care.
Primary Responsibilities
- Observe gaming tables for proper etiquette.
- Supervise subordinates.
- Handle service complaints.
- Record and compile reports.
- Food and Beverage background, an asset.
- Ensure regulations are adhered to while patrons gamble.
- Survey tables for suspicious activity.
- Assist with hiring, and training of staff.
- Assist in evaluating employees' performance.
- Monitor and verify the counting, wrapping, weighing, and distribution of currency and coins.
- Ensure facility is up to code and has adequate fire protection.
- Call for maintenance on malfunctioning machines.
- Keep abreast of information pertaining to gaming operations, promotions and events, and disseminate said information to appropriate persons.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary education
- Familiarity with the Betting Gaming and Lotteries Commission's regulations would be an asset
- At least 2 years’ experience in a team leading position
- Familiarity within the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
- Must own a reliable motor vehicle
- A degree of flexibility and latitude.
