 Environmental Health Officer (Permanent) 

Job Description:  

The Environmental Health Officer is responsible for the promotion and maintenance of high standards of environmental and or public health and safety at all campuses of the University. He/She will administer and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations relating to environmental health, both locally and internationally. 

Requirements: 

The preferred applicant should possess: 

• Master’s Degree in Public Health/Occupational and Environmental Health or a related discipline
• At least five (5) years’ relevant experience preferably in a public health environment with at least two years managing or investigating food-borne disease outbreaks and planning intervention strategies. 

Other Requirements:

• Knowledge of the Utech, Ja. Act, Ordinances, Policies, Regulations, and other source material

• In-depth knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to the practice of environmental/public health
• Sound knowledge of food safety and food technology
• Sound knowledge of public and environmental health and waste management principles, procedures and practices
• Working knowledge of the principles and practices in public health monitoring and intervention
• Sound knowledge of occupational health and safety and relevant regulations
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of community health monitoring
• Good communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
