Electronics Technician Supervisor

Title: Electronics Technician Supervisor

Location: Giftland Group, Giftland Mall – Guyana

Reports To: General Manager Retail

Job Summary:

Supervises a team of electronics technicians, ensuring the efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic systems and devices. Oversees troubleshooting, diagnostics, and testing to resolve issues promptly. Implements safety protocols, maintains equipment, manages work schedules, and ensures adherence to quality standards. Provides technical guidance, conducts performance evaluations, and collaborates with other departments for optimal workflow

Electronics Technician Supervisor – Job Responsibilities:

  • Team Management & Scheduling: Supervise, schedule, and monitor daily work for the Electronics Technicians, ensuring tasks are prioritized and completed efficiently. Manage weekly scheduling and ensure all standard operating procedures (SOPs) and company policies are followed.
  • Training & Development: Evaluate, train, and mentor technicians to improve their efficiency and work ethic. Identify and address staff development needs, ensuring that necessary training is provided to enhance technical and operational skills.
  • Task Coordination: Oversee the internal ticketing system (e.g., Spiceworks) to ensure all tasks are up to date. Assign tasks with appropriate priority, maintaining detailed logs of new, pending, and completed tasks.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory records for technician tools, equipment, and repair parts. Ensure the technician’s room and storage areas are organized, clean, and conform to health and safety requirements. Request procurement of tools and parts when needed, and track equipment assigned to each technician.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical advice to both internal and external stakeholders, assisting the Electronics team and customers when required. Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment as necessary, including site visits when required.
  • Performance Evaluation & Reporting: Conduct regular performance evaluations of technicians and provide feedback. Prepare reports and compose correspondence related to tasks, repairs, and department performance.
  • Communication & Customer Service: Foster open communication and knowledge sharing within the department. Work closely with the Electronics Sales Team to ensure high levels of customer service, keeping customers informed about repair timelines and progress.
  • Trend Analysis & Product Recommendations: Monitor repair trends and provide feedback to the Electronics Manager on recurring issues with specific brands or models. Suggest new popular brands or products that should be stocked within the department.
  • Motivation & Morale: Implement strategies to motivate the team, maintaining high morale and ensuring technicians meet key performance indicators. Provide timely encouragement and support to achieve department goals.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, maintaining clean and tidy workspaces in all technician areas.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Organize and log irreparable customer returns, preparing items for disposal with the help of the inventory coordinator. Regularly provide insights to the Electronics Manager regarding repairs, equipment trends, and inventory.

Reporting Responsibilities: Reports to Electronics Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises the Electronics Technicians and the Electronics AC Technicians.

Job Requirements/Specifications

Education:

  • Diploma/Degree in Electronics or related field.

Experience: Two (2) to Three (3) years in similar field and (1) year supervises a technician team.

Essential Skills: Must have strong customer service skills, leadership skills and adaptability

Job Conditions

Will be spending 50% of the time in Giftland, the other 50% relates to offsite visits to work – related locations to complete tasks/projects.

Salary and Benefits

Salary and Benefits are based on Giftland existing salary scheme, and benefits are in accordance with the laws of Guyana and the policies of Giftland. These are all provided for in the Contract of employment.
