Job Summary: As a part of Distillery of Talents (DOT), you will participate in a structured 18-Months programme designed to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in a technical role within J. Wray & Nephew/Campari Group. Through a combination of hands-on experience, mentorship, and training, you will gain a deep understanding of our industry, products, and services, and develop expertise in key technical areas.

We are seeking recent university graduates who are enthusiastic, adaptable and motivated, and who have interest in building career in manufacturing, specifically in the Alcoholic Beverage/Spirits industry. You will have the opportunity to work within our Supply Chain Unit in the areas of Engineering, Maintenance, Environment & Sustainability, Planning and Procurement at our manufacturing plants located in Jamaica.

Required Academic Qualifications, Skills and Competecies

  • First degree in Science, Engineering, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Economics or related discipline
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good time management
  • Proficient in MS Windows applications (word, excel, powerpoint, outlook)
  • Good communications skills; both oral and written
  • Attitude to multitasking and team working
  • Learning agility

 Areas of Opportunities 

Internship Areas

Main Activities and Responsibilities

 

 Engineering/Maintenance

Based primarily at our Distillery located in Clarendon, rotating at our Distillery in St Elizabeth, and our Bottling & Blending plants in Kingston.

 

Provide technical assistance to the Engineering/Maintenance function to include mechanical, electrical and instrumentation at our manufacturing plants.

  • Assist in the planning and scheduling for shutdowns - major & minor) 
  • Assist in developing Gantt Charts, Critical Path Analysis and Resource leveling to support shutdowns
  • Assist in developing task instructions, in collaboration with Engineers 
  • Assist in the daily updates of the Megamation maintenance software
  • Ensure all data from condition monitoring is collected and entered in Megamation for analysis of equipment history
  • Assist in maintaining essential records and files from which management reports can be prepared
  • Keep database of purchase requisitions raised and track delivery dates 
  • Advise of timing for statutory equipment inspections

 

 

Environment/Sustainability

Based at our Distilleries, primarily New Yarmouth located in Clarendon as well as Appleton located in St Elizabeth.

 

 

Provide technical assistance to the Company’s end-to-end environment function, including extra-ordinary project support at the sites as it relates to environment and sustainability.

  • Evaluate and assess water distribution networks at all three sites
  • Assess energy consumption at all sites with aim to improve energy efficiency of operations
  • Evaluate current recycling and waste diversion initiatives presently implemented
  • Analyse historical and present water and waste water data with the aim of finding feasible solutions to any issues found in the trends
  • Update environmental database as it relates to water and waste

 

 

Planning

Based at our Kingston location.

 

Contribute to the supply chain function, focusing on demand, supply and material planning and aspects of logistics; optimizing inventory levels, forecasting demand, assist in analyzing inventory data and generating reports, and supporting overall supply chain strategies.

  • Support demand forecasting, supply planning and material planning processes
  • Collaborate with team members to monitor supply chain performance
  • Help in identifying and resolving inventory discrepancies
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to project discussions

 

 

Procurement

Based at our Kingston location.

 

Assist the Supply Chain Procurement function in strategic sourcing and procurement of Packaging, Raw Materials and Non-Product Related items.

  • Support  market analysis including SWOT, Porter and other models to assist in the negotiation process and supplier development
  • Conduct research on market developments, price and cost developments by applying cost models
  • Support vendor qualification and vendor rating processes for materials/services. In conjunction with the business stakeholders, carries out vendor audits, and supports the supplier development process.
  • Support development of information and market guidance in budget preparation and highlighting business impacts, such as cost, productivity
  • Support the needed documentation for the revised budget sessions with Finance department uand stakeholders
  • Support the RFx processes with the budget stakeholders: Prepare relevant documents for the tendering processes
  • Collect, identify and validate requirements of stakeholders
  • Execute the processes to ensure supplier compliance with agreed terms and agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Participate in the legal agreement (contract) development process with the Internal Legal team.
  • Monitor and report on procurement risk and governance KPIs
