The Director of Maintenance as the head of the Engineering Department at National Helicopter Services Limited (NHSL) is responsible for providing effective leadership to our maintenance staff and ensuring the ongoing airworthiness and serviceability of our aircraft fleet.
DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE
The Director of Maintenance (DOM) reporting to the General Manager is the lead position under the Aircraft Maintenance Organisation (AMO) and is responsible for managing the full range of NHSL’s engineering functions by ensuring serviceable and airworthy aircrafts whilst adhering to Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Regulations (TTCAR’s), manufacture, industry and organisation requirements. The DOM leads, coaches, mentors and develops the staff of the Engineering Department.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works with the Director of Operations (DOO) to ensure maintenance and flight operations are fully, efficiently and safely coordinated and periods of forecasted, preventative or heavy maintenance do not interfere with the daily flight programme.
- Determines and maintains the core manpower levels, skill sets and competencies required for the successful achievement of the engineering functions.
- Identifies, evaluates and resolves issues regarding department inefficiency/ineffectiveness, recommend and implement action steps to support improvement within the function.
- Manages, administrates and improves maintenance activities to maximize aircraft serviceability, availability and reliability whilst managing safety and associated costs.
- Ensures the overall management of the department, its policies, procedures, systems and practices are relevant to support a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Performs other duties related to the job function.
Required Qualifications and Competencies:
- Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s Licence (Rotorcraft) with at least one of the following type ratings: Sikorsky S76 C++/D and or AW 139 or acceptable equivalent.
- At least five (5) years Aviation experience maintaining the same aircraft category of the company with at least one (1) year in the capacity of returning aircraft to service.
- At least five (5) years in a managerial or senior supervisory position leading a maintenance department of over twenty persons.
- Strong Leadership, Interpersonal, Communication, and Business Savvy skills.
- Knowledge of TTCAR’s and the ability to implement and work with Maintenance Management IT systems and software.
- Tertiary Level Education & Formal Management Training will be an asset.
- Proven ability to motivate staff and manage a diverse team on time sensitive projects.
- Possess a high degree of integrity, tact, diplomacy and corporate spirit.
