The purpose of the Collections Manager is to oversee and direct the company's accounts receivable and collections functions, ensuring timely payment receipt and minimizing bad debt.

 

Job purpose: 

The purpose of the Collections Manager is to oversee and direct the company's accounts receivable and collections functions, ensuring timely payment receipt and minimizing bad debt. This role will develop and implement effective collection strategies, manage a team of collectors and maintain relationships with customers.

 

Key Objectives:

  • Develop and implement collection policies and procedures. 
  • Analyze accounts receivable and identify high-risk accounts. 
  • Establish relationships with customers to resolve payment issues. 
  • Manage a team of collectors, providing guidance and training. 
  • Negotiate payment plans and settlements. 
  • Monitor and report on collection performance. 
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. 
  • Collaborate with sales and customer service teams.
Main accountabilities:
  • Managing the Collections Team: Leading and mentoring the collections staff to ensure efficient operations.
  • Developing Policies and Procedures: Creating and implementing policies to improve the collections process.
  • Monitoring Accounts: Keeping a close eye on overdue accounts and taking necessary action to recover payments.
  • Customer Relations: Handling difficult customer situations and negotiating payment plans.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Providing regular reports on collections performance and trends to senior management.
  • Compliance: Ensuring that all collection activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.
Qualifications, knowledge & experience: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field
  • 3+ years of collections experience
  • Familiarity with accounting software and collections systems
  • Proficient in MS Office
