Responsibilities:

  • Identify and notify customers of overdue energy bills.
  • Process payments received and accurately update customer accounts.
  • Advise customers on outstanding balances and follow up persistently to ensure timely payments.
  • Initiate service disconnection or legal proceedings for non-payment.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of customer interactions and account statuses.
  • Proactively address and resolve customer issues, complaints, and queries.
  • Offer clear, empathetic solutions to customers, working collaboratively to achieve beneficial outcomes for both the customer and the energy company.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in collections
  • Ability to build rapport with clients
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • A bonus would be to have experience working in the energy/utility business or common knowledge of how they operate
  • Comfortable with negotiating
  • Able to stay calm and lead a conversation
  • Computer proficiency, able to comfortably navigate multiple systems (including telephony, online video meeting rooms, and a chat platform, used to ask for and receive internal support)
  • 1-2 years hard collections (call center) preferred

Qualification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 
  • Post Secondary education is considered an asset.
