Clinical Nurse Educator
The BVI Health Services Authority (a client-centered healthcare organization) invites qualified and professional applicants for the position of CLINICAL NURSE EDUCATOR.The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for designing, implementing, evaluating and revising academic and continuing education programs for nurses. These include formal academic programs that lead to a certificate or more informal continuing education programs designed to meet individual learning needs. The role of the Clinical Nurse Educator is to ensure quality educational experiences that prepare the nursing workforce for a diverse, ever-changing health care environment.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (included but not limited to):
1) Develop curricula for nurse education. To help students and practicing nurses identify their learning needs, strengths and limitations with a focus on learning opportunities that will build on strengths and overcome limitations.
2) Advising students; engaging in scholarly work (e.g. research) maintaining clinical competence. Participating in professional association, speaking/presenting at nursing conferences. Supports the development of the bedside nurse and fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidenced based nursing practice.
3) Identifies changes that should be made in nursing practice using an evidence-based approach and facilitates the initiation of programs to facilitate needed change.
4) Provides ongoing evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of the educational activities.
5) Considers factors related to safely, effectiveness and cost in planning, delivering, and managing nursing professional development activities
6) Acts as consultant to nurse management in the professional development of staff.
7) Evaluates nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and maintains continuing professional nursing professional development activities.
8) Integrates ethical principles in all aspects of practice
9) Assumes leadership and managerial roles in the absence of the Nursing Unit Manager as delegated
10) Performs other related duties which are consistent with the role profile and may be required in specialty units
Minimum Requirements:
Education & Experience
v Certificate in Education.
v Masters of Science Degree in Nursing (Preferred).
v Five (5) years nursing, clinical educator or nursing instructor experience required.
Licenses and/or registrations
v Unencumbered BVI Nursing License and current registration to practice.
v Certification as Nursing Education
v Certification In BLS
v Certification In Advance Life Support, Pediatric Life Support, Neonatal Life Support
