Our Client, a successful mid-sized company operating businesses in (non-food) manufacturing and professional services, serving a wide customer base across the public and private sectors, is looking for a self-driven and proven Chief Financial Operations and Administrative Officer (CFO&AO) to lead the finance function and further support the business transformation across the company.  The CFO&AO, a new role reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, will be a strategic partner and reliable implementer of key projects driving business improvement, while having day-to-day oversight of the finance function and control environment.  The group has been operating in Jamaica for over 20 years and has a standout suite of locally manufactured products and well sought after services, operating in highly competitive sectors. 

 

About the Role 

The CFO&AO will have oversight and responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, compliance, risk management and institutional financing.  The role holder will:

 

  • Manage all aspects of Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Treasury (cash management, collection and investments), External & Internal Audit, Purchasing & Inventory Control, Risk Management , Tax & Regulatory Compliance.
  • Ensure that the financial planning, analysis and reporting standards are best in class, and that reports are on time and accurate at all times.
  • Plan and lead the annual budget preparation and provide reliable forecasting and analysis to support business decisions.
  • Provide inspirational leadership to the Finance team by ensuring talent management and development programmes and workplace initiatives are in place to build capacity and capability, employee engagement and a high performance culture in the team.
  • Build strong business partner relationships across the operations and with key constituents and ensure vendor and procurement management is best in class.
  • Partner with the CEO to lead the strategic planning and business transformation processes and execution to build sustainable business and financial performance, enabling the company to compete in changing market conditions and keep its competitive position in the market place.
  • Develop and manage the risk framework across the operations and ensure that the mitigation plans are in place and opportunities are identified and presented on an on-going basis to the CEO and Board.
  • Oversee the development of policies, procedures and initiatives to ensure that the rick, control and compliance environment is adequate and audit actions are implemented on time.
  • Ensure that information technology systems/solutions and business improvement projects are designed, implemented and optimized to create better controls, decision support, agility and accountability in the finance operations.

 

About the Person:

 

The preferred candidate profile will match the following by having:

  • Chartered Accountant qualifications.
  • An MBA degree or equivalent management training certification would be an asset.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience leading a Finance function and operating at the c-suite level. 
  • Knowledge and experience managing Finance/Auditing for manufacturing operations including inventory management and control.
  • Knowledge and experience in implementing and optimizing Accounting/ERP systems and business intelligence software.
  • Sound knowledge of Company Law, GCT and Income Tax Regulations and Accounting Standards.
    • Mental dexterity to contribute to operations management.
    • Unquestioned integrity and confidentiality.
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Outstanding  analytical skills.
    • Excellent relationship and team-building skills.
    • High level of initiative and project management mindset.
    • Highly organized and extremely focused with a bias for action and on-time delivery.
    • Persistent, hardworking and goal-driven.
    • Ability to work under pressure, with ambiguity and uncertainty.
