Job Title: Cane Liasson Officer

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate Degree in Agriculture
• General Driver’s License (Motor Cars and trucks 4,000Kgs)
• Excellent Communication skills.
• Computer literate. (email, MS Word and Excel)
• Experience in Agriculture, particularly in the field of extension services would be a definite asset.

Reporting Relationship

• Directly report to Cane Liasson Manager.  Will also have a reporting relationship with the General Manager of Factory Operations.

Main Responsibilities

• Monitor harvesting activities of small and large farmers ensuring that only fresh and clean sugarcane is delivered to the factory.
• Build relationships with farmers and be willing and able to offer sound agronomic advice on sugarcane husbandry.
• Monitoring farmer’s harvesting activities to ensure that daily delivery quotas are met.
• Allocate trucks and loading equipment to maximize harvesting efficiency.
• Work alongside farmers, truckers and harvest contractors to ensure cane is delivered to the factory in the shortest possible time from cutting or burning.
• Work to increase farmer’s sugarcane yield and area under cultivate with the ultimate goal of growing Farmer’s cane deliveries.
• Assess the cane road network and make recommendations of where resources should be allocated.
• Assess and monitor cane road maintenance activities.
• Any other duties assigned from time to time.
