Assistant Vice President – Equity Capital Markets

Core Functions: 

  • Provide leadership and supervision to the Equities Trading team.
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase revenues from investments such as trading income and commission income.
  • Help significantly in the development of strategies to drive trading revenues.
  • Efficiently execute equity transactions in the local, regional and international markets on behalf of the Company’s portfolios.
  • Generate trading and origination ideas using fundamental, quantitative and technical skills.
  • Analyze portfolio positions, evaluate and manage risks under various portfolio scenarios and levels of stress.
  • Approve investment transactions as per limits set by the Group Risk Management Division.
  • Develop and optimize new and existing institutional relationships through active sales and marketing.
  • Keep abreast of market conditions and trading fundamentals both in local, regional and international markets.
  • Collect and distribute relevant market news and colour to the portfolio management, research and advisory teams.
Qualifications & Experience:

 Either (i):

  • Masters in Finance, Economics, Banking and at least three (3) years’ supervisory experience in local and overseas equity, bond and currency trading. CFA Designation or Candidacy is an asset.

Or (ii):

  • First Degree in Economics, Finance or Mathematics and at least five (5) years’ experience in bond, money market and currency trading.

Specific Knowledge:

  • Extensive knowledge of the local, regional and international securities market.
  • Skilled in equity valuation with specialized knowledge in private equity.
  • Detailed knowledge of the rules and regulations governing professional conduct and the Jamaican, Cayman and Barbados securities markets.
  • Knowledge of money market, bond, equities and currency trading techniques.
  • Knowledge of the full range of investment products and services available through the Company.
  • Knowledge of the business, marketing, strategic planning and project management processes.
  • Sound knowledge of the principles and techniques of financial management accounting.
