Assistant Financial Controller

Job Overview:

The position provides financial expertise to enable the successful implementation of the company service strategy and company initiatives while maximizing the return on investment to the owners and company. In addition, creates and executes a business plan that is aligned with the hotel and brand’s business strategy and focuses on the execution of financial and accounting activities and the delivery of desirable financial results.

Job Description:

  • Ensuring P&L Accuracy - Ensuring Profits and Losses are documented accurately.
  • Reconciles balance sheet to ensure account balances are supported by appropriate documentation in accordance with SOPs
  • Improving Profit - Developing means to improve profit, including estimating cost and benefit, exploring new business opportunities, etc.
  • Ensuring that All Invoices are Current, and/or Accrued - Monitoring all invoices that apply, ensuring that Invoices are current, coordinate with the department/suppliers on collecting the invoices and/or accrued.
  • Ensuring that All Company and Payroll related Taxes – NHIB, NIB are Current, Collected and/or accrued.
  • Monitoring all taxes that apply, ensuring that taxes are current, paid on time collected and/or accrued.
  • Ensuring Report Delivery Deadlines - Submitting reports in a timely manner, ensuring delivery deadlines.
  • Demonstrating Leadership - Utilizing interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity; leads by example.
  • Monitoring Actual vs. Projected Sales - Compiling information, analyzing, and monitoring actual sales against projected sales.
  • Issuance of Daily Management Report – Issuance of daily management report, controlling costs and directing the department heads. Holds regular meetings with the department head on controlling their costs.
  • Reconciling Balance Sheet – All Balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly with supporting and documentation.
  • Comparing Budgeted Wages to Actual Wages - Analyzing differences between actual wages and budgeted / forecasted wages for more efficient budget planning.
  • Achieving/Exceeding Goals - Achieving and exceeding goals including performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc.
  • Analyzing Data or Information - Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
  • Generating and providing accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc.
  • Understanding and meeting the needs of key stakeholders (owners, corporate, guests, etc.).

Requirement:

  • 4-year bachelor's degree in Finance and Accounting or related major; 2 years’ experience in the finance and accounting or related professional area.
