The Assistant Accountant is responsible for financial reporting, regulatory reporting, statutory payables, reporting on the performance of the investment portfolio, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining integrity of the accounting records.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: q Prepares monthly financial reports, with supporting analyses where appropriate. q Monitors and reports on the performance of investment portfolios, ensuring documentation is kept up to date, filed and secured, where applicable. q Liaises with banks and financial institutions as needed and makes appropriate recommendations in order to maximize returns on the organization’s funds. q Reconciles Investment Ledger with General Ledger monthly. q Maintains the company’s Fixed Assets register, supported by appropriate documentation. q Reconciles all statutory payables (PAYE, NIS, Health Surcharge, Green Fund Levy, Business Levy, Corporation Tax, 6% tax, VAT) on a monthly basis. q Prepares regulatory reports by the stipulated deadline. q Performs selected Balance Sheet reconciliations. q Ensures that other Balance Sheet reconciliations and selected income/expense analyses are prepared and signed off each month, ensuring that reconciling items are cleared in a timely manner. q Ensures that receipts/deposits and payments are posted to the General Ledger on a daily basis, as far as possible. q Reviews GL entries after posting to ensure that all journals are posted correctly. q Prepares daily cash book, showing all receipts and payments. q Reviews and signs off Cheque Payment Vouchers. q Periodically audits Petty Cash. q Assists in the preparation of interim and year-end audit schedules and deals with auditors’ requests for information in a timely manner. q Supports the preparation of the annual corporate budget by providing appropriate inputs. q Ensures an appropriate and adequate system of internal controls is in place and periodically makes recommendations for improvement. q Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies. q Adheres to Anti-Money Laundering guidelines and other financial, legal and statutory requirements. q Supports the maintenance of a team environment by performing other related duties. |
