Job Summary:

  • Caribbean Development Company Limited invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for the above-mentioned position within the Finance Division – Accounts Receivables Department. The Assistant Accountant oversees accounts receivable management, ensuring adequate support for the sales team, drivers, and warehouses, while maintaining operational accuracy and efficiency. They handle the processing and monitoring of incoming payments, and they meticulously manage collections to safeguard revenue.

Job Description:

  • Ensures smooth day to day operations on collections and supervision of the Accounts Receivables Clerks responsible for the balancing of the daily sales batches.
  • Ensures adequate support provided to contractors/drivers/warehouses and sales team.
  • Ensures timely notification for past due and dishonored cheques as well as fraud squad and head office reporting. Responsible for the review and management of these accounts.
  • Provide weekly/monthly updates accordingly and support to external parties for actioning collection on same. Provide all required documents to Fraud Squad and Legal within the specified timelines. Provide weekly updates on all past due accounts.
  • Responsible for the collection of all bounce cheques daily with the relevant parties.
  • Reviews customer balances both local and export weekly to ensure payments are received and processed daily.
  • Ensures sales and accounts receivable are closed off by the 1st and 2nd working day of the following month respectively.
  • Prepares monthly Accounts Receivable reports with explanations of action taken on overdue customers.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Completed Level 2 ACCA or equivalent education from a recognized institution and currently pursuing Level 3 ACCA.
  • CIA will be an asset in this position.
  • At least two (2) years’ accounting experience.
  • At least two (2) years’ supervisory experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and any other relevant software.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills.
  • Efficient Time Management skills.
  • Ability to prepare concise and informative reports.
