ASSET CARE CONTROLLER

The West Indies Rum Distillery Limited (established in 1893), a leading producer of Barbados rum and rum-based products for local, regional and international makers, is seeking to recruit an Asset Care Controller to join our team. 

Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning, scheduling, and executing immediate to short term (i.e. (3) months) departmental goals, including preventative, corrective and improvement maintenance tasks according to agreed timelines and deliverables.
  • Supervising and rostering Asset Care Technicians and Contractors to ensure tasks are achieved in a timely manner.
  • Tool management.
  • Procurement of spare parts and equipment.
  • Assisting with the improvement of the Preventative Maintenance program for the facility.
  • Complying with safety regulations and health and safety standards and procedures of the company.

Required Qualifications, Experience and Other Competencies/Characteristics:

  • An Associate/Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering; Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in a manufacturing environment (including a minimum of one (1) years’ supervisory experience).
  • Must possess strong leadership and influencing skills.
  • Excellent time management, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Must be highly computer literate.
  • Must possess an in-depth knowledge and understanding of Electrical Systems (e.g. motors, contactors, VFD, PLC etc.) and Mechanical Systems (e.g. pumps, bearings, compressors) and strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be performance driven, results-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Flexibility to be “called out” and placed on a “call out” roster.
  • Having access to one’s own transportation is essential.
