The Application Specialist has responsibility for providing the necessary technical support relating to applications, system-level software, other general computing applications, the troubleshooting of any malfunctioning application or software systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the Software Solutions Manager to support key IT objectives of the company and/or department
  • Administer assigned applications to agreed standards
  • Monitor the software ecosystem for any breaches of standard, malfunction or need for improvement and collaborate with the Software Solutions Manager, direct Supervisor or Business Analysts to design solutions to eradicate or mitigate these issues
  • Create and maintain technical and user documentation for all system objects
  • Develop and administer end user training for all applications in the company’s ecosystem
  • Develop and maintain test strategies for all changes to the ecosystem
  • Update the Service Desk system with all issues and changes in a timely manner and within SLAs
  • Collaborate with systems analysts, developers and others to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces
  • Determine system performance standards
  • Coordinate software system installations and monitor equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met
  • Liaise with internal and external IT resources to achieve the objectives of projects and tasks within agreed timelines and budget
  • Liaise with the business resources to define and agree on requirements
  • Any other lawful duty assigned within rules and policies of the company and the law of the land

 

JOB SPECIFICATION/COMPETENCIES [Minimum]

Required Qualification, Experience, Knowledge and skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with at least three (3) years’ experience in a similar capacity
  • Excellent communication skills – both in written and verbal formats with the ability to communicate with varying levels of staff
  • Prior experience in a customer service environment would be an asset
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Prior experience within the industry would be an asset
  • Ability to innovate and take initiative
  • Analytical mind with a problem solving mindset
