Accounting & Reporting Officer

Kingston Logistics Center Limited, a leading player in the shipping and logistics industry in Jamaica, is looking for a talented and experienced Accounting & Reporting Officer to join our “Faster, Easier, Smarter” KLC team. The Accounting & Reporting Officer will play a key role in the Accounts Department and will be responsible for preparing financial reports and maintaining records of assets, liabilities, revenue and expenditure, payments, and other financial activities. This position requires excellent time management, paying attention to details and problem resolution skills.

Responsibilities:

• Reconcile WMS (internal system) vs Financial Billing (to be done daily and any variance to be investigated and corrected).

• Prepare all payroll journals.

• Prepare and post all audit fee / vacation accrual journals.

• Prepare and deposit cash and cheque lodgment daily.

• Perform general accounting tasks, including reconciling and maintaining balance sheet accounts and general ledger operations.

• Setup recurring journals for all prepayments.

• Setup deferred expense.

• Prepare and monitor KLC Panama invoice posting and allocate all freight charges paid on their behalf.

• Prepare and email monthly KLC Panama reconciliation. (Prepare any adjusting journal entries).

• Book all R&D, PTI and repairs invoice daily based on approved emails.

• Conduct month inventory count, Update Inventory Report, correlate with inventory movement and gate pass, along with invoice posted

• Prepare requisite balance sheet reconciliations.

• Prepare fixed asset schedule and post monthly depreciation journals.

• Prepare and post all costs of goods sold expense based on allotted invoice monthly.

• Ensure all expenses are within budget and verify the completeness of all required supporting documentation for all payments.

• Prepare requisite audit schedule in support of the annual financial audit.

• Ensure proper and complete documentation and filing for easy retrieval of all accounting related documents.

• Perform performance appraisal for all direct reports according to performance objective documents and submit to Head of Finance.

 

Requirements:

• Degree in Accounting or Management Studies with an Accounting Major or equivalent qualification.

• A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience, preferably working in a fast-paced environment.

• Knowledge of SAP or other accounting software.

• Willing to work overtime.

• Knowledgeable of Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Experience in financial accounting preferred.
