The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for the role of Accounting Officer, on contract.

The Accounting Officer will be responsible for financial bookkeeping and records of the Authority in collaboration with the Accountant and Manager, Finance.  The incumbent will record transactions, payments, expenses and processing invoices.  The Accounting Officer will follow up on overdue payments and ensures that invoices and payments match correctly by cross-checking the original document and the Authority’s records.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or a related field or ACCA Level 2.
  • Three (3) years of experience in an Accounting or related field.
  • Experience in a public sector or similar environment will be considered an advantage.
Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:
  • Resolve general accounts queries.

  • Receive and complete transactions with the public, employees, vendors, suppliers or contractors by telephone, email, or in person.
  • Complete tasks which include preparation of invoices, payment authorizations, data compilation, spreadsheet analysis and graph preparation.
  • Arrange scheduled payment of invoices received as approved by the Manager, Finance.
  • Bookkeeping on all payments, paying attention to the amount of invoice, confirmed payment details and credit terms applicable.
  • Coordinate travel, expense reimbursements, and payment schedules.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements by preparing monthly journal entries, bank reconciliation, and various schedules for overhead allocations, monthly report to Manager, Finance is on time.
  • Maintain general ledgers.
  • Cross-check invoices with payments and expenses to ensure accuracy.
  • Process payments and refunds.
  • Prepare and review financial reports.
  • Assist with budget preparation and forecasting.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager, Finance.
