The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for the role of Accounting Assistant, on contract.

The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for basic bookkeeping and accounting tasks.  The incumbent will provide support to the Manager, Finance on a variety of tasks.  The duties of the Accounting Assistant will include bank reconciliations, drafting financial documents and invoicing customers or collecting payments.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or a related field or ACCA Level 1 or CAT.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in Accounting or a related field.
  • Experience in a public sector or similar environment will be considered an advantage.
Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:
  • Assist the Manager, Finance with creating and editing financial documents.
  • Organize the bookkeeping processes of the Authority.
  • Draft and report on financial presentations.
  • Reconcile financial books including incoming and outgoing funds.
  • Prepare reports as directed by the Manager, Finance.
  • Call customers regarding invoices and outstanding payments.
  • Manage basic office administrative task including filing, printing, reporting and emailing.
  • Work closely with the Manager, Finance to manage client’s records.
  • Schedule client appointment and manage important department deadlines, providing administrative and accounting support, where necessary.
  • Update accounts payables and receivables records.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager, Finance.
