JOB DESCRIPTION: ACCOUNTANT– SYSTEMS AND RISK
JOB SUMMARY
• Ensure all accounting system requirements are managed in accordance with department’s objectives.
• Ensure the Enterprise Risk Management system of the department is managed in accordance with the organisation’s objectives.
• Operate as the liaison between the IT team and/or other departments relative to configuration of accounting modules
• Ensure all necessary action is taken to allow for generation of monthly and/or annual financial accounting data
• Provide reports in line with the company’s objectives that would strengthen the integration between systems
• Research and present solutions for the audit issues on system integration in a timely manner
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or related field
• Certified Accounting Qualification – ACCA, CIMA, CPA
• Project management training would be an asset
• Knowledge of all relevant policies and procedures within Finance
• Power BI/Workday systems experience desirable
• Knowledge of Financial Reporting methods for the insurance industry
• Proficient in the capabilities and use of Office Tools and software relevant to job functions.
• Knowledge of IAS/IFRS accounting standards
• Knowledge of the legislation governing insurance accounting
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Five (5) years’ work experience in a similar position in an accounting environment preferably in the
insurance industry.

• Combination of Equivalent Qualification and Training
KEY FUNCTIONS
• Review Business Processing Procedures and develop document workflows that would ensure accounting documents are available to authorised users
• Identify and correct errors and matters affecting the preparation of Financial Statements
• Liaise with the IT team where necessary
• Monitor system entries to ensure accounts are aligned to the correct category and ensure understanding of the uses of these tables to authorised Users
• Responsible for creating training documents and workflows for all system transactions, and facilitate training for all levels of staff as necessary
• Develop and document training scenarios to be used for training purposes
• Maintain documentation on all accounting documents/transactions used in the environment
• Maintain the Enterprise Risk Management process for the department.
• Implement internal controls policies and procedures that enables timely and accurate processing, analysis and reporting
• Develop a review plan of all department processes.
• Manage software processes as required
• Provide on-going guidance to staff on the uses of the various accounting documents
• Maintain all system tables to ensure accurate processing of transactions and proper internal controls
• Manage account reconciliations, identifies trends, and takes action as necessary
• Perform any other duties related to the job function as may be assigned.
