Role Summary

The Accountant shall report to the Operations Manager and shall be responsible for the day-to-day management of the activities in the department.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The Accountant shall have overall responsibility of the accounting records and reports for the Company. These duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Timely and accurate reporting and compiling of financial and accounting information.
  • Compliance with Company Policies and good accounting practices
  • Ensure the presence of effective internal controls to reduce the likelihood of fraud and the recording of inaccurate information.
  • Monitor, improve, and ensure compliance to the internal controls systems.
  • Prepare costings to analyze and present recommended pricing to potential new customers and business contracts.
  • Analyzes, consolidates, and directs all cost accounting procedures.
  • Effectively manage and constantly modernize and upgrade the operation of the Finance Department
  • Supervise, Train, Motivate, and Develop the staff of the Finance Department
  • Develop accounting systems and procedures as and when needed.
  • Develop and maintain annual budgets and other forecasts.
  • Analyze operating costs vis-à-vis Budget / Plan and reveal reasons / suggest remedial measures for improvements.
  • Manage Accounts Payable, monitor cash flows regularly, prioritize payments and keep trace of deposits and transfers.
  • Properly manage and enforce purchasing procedures with appropriate approvals for purchase and payment.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable to ensure the timely collection of outstanding debts.
  • Undertake physical stock counts of Company’s inventory.
  • Supervise Warehouse Supervisors.
  • Ensure the accurate recording and reconciliation of inventory and ensuring warehouse procedures are enforced through warehouse supervisors.
  • Ensure the economical use of the Company’s resources.
  • Conduct Physical verification of Company’s assets from time-to-time (test basis)
  • Monitor, control, and seek appropriate approvals for all capital expenditure.
  • Conduct annual staff appraisals.
  • Ensure that the Company’s financial documents and other relevant assets are kept secured.
  • Ensure that all staff personnel information is kept confidential and secure.
  • Ensure the Timely and accurate calculation and submission of payrolls.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate calculation and submission of social security contribution payments.
Qualifications and Experience requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Minimum of 3 solid years of Accounting/Cost Accounting in a Manufacturing Environment
  • Must have a strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
  • Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards.
  • Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Knowledge of bottling plant production.
  • Computer Literate – Strong Excel skills and the ability to use Outlook and Word
  • Good understanding of the production process in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good Interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to train personnel.
  • Strong Leadership Qualities.
  • Operational understanding of ISO Standards and application of a management system to achieve business results.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory and KORE requirements.
  • Knowledge of IMS policies and procedures relevant to the job description.
