Warehouse Assistant/Sideman

The Warehouse Assistant and Sideman is responsible for activities related to receiving and storing inventory, producing goods and functioning as a sideman on the delivery vehicles while accompanying drivers on delivery assignments.

Job Description

The Warehouse Assistant and Sideman position is responsible for activities related to receiving and storing inventory, producing goods and functioning as a sideman on the delivery vehicles while accompanying drivers on delivery assignments. When assigned to warehousing and production activities the Warehouse and Delivery Assistant reports to the respective supervisor, coordinator or manager. While on delivery assignments, the incumbent is under the direct supervision of the driver.

Key Responsibilities:

-          Unloading of shipping containers and other vessels that deliver items (truck, van, etc.)

-          Assist in the picking and delivery of goods to customers

-          Assist with the storage of drummed and bagged items

-          Assist with the weighing of items as per supervisor’s instruction.

-          Assist in the operation of the drum making machines to assemble metal drums

-          Assist in the preparation of polish

-          Execution of sideman duties on the delivery vehicles

-          Assist with house-keeping and general maintenance of the daily GMP programme in the warehouse.

Qualifications and Experience:

-          Secondary School education

-          Minimum 5 CSEC subjects (including Math and English)

-          Minimum 3 years’ working experience in a related field

-          Knowledge and experience in operating machines in a factory

-          Excellent skills in weights and measurement

-          Good interpersonal relations

-          Demonstrated ability to correctly follow instructions given

-          General awareness of warehouse housekeeping requirements

 Physical Demands:

-          Warehouse conditions such as high temperatures and some dust

-          Job entails standing for extended periods of time.

-          Required to wear safety shoes and sometimes other safety gears

-          Required to lift products with weight up to 50 lbs.

-          Required to move around full 55-gallon drums

 Work Environment:

-          This position involves working in both a warehouse environment and various road conditions.
