The East Port of Spain Development Company (EPOS) is a company wholly owned by the government of Trinidad and Tobago. It was established in 2005 with the mandate to develop and redevelop a zone in East Port-of-Spain to improve the economic, social and physical environment.
 
EPOS is seeking to hire a suitably qualified individual who identifies with the principles and purpose of the Company to fill the position of Social Investment Officer. 
 
Job Summary
 
The Social Investment Officer will conceptualize and design capacity-building and support programmes to drive socio-economic change within East Port of Spain communities, in alignment with sustainable development goals and objectives.
 
Key Duties
 
Supervisory/Management:

  • Contributes to the development of the Department’s annual work plan and budget.
  • Co-ordinates execution of SI marketing activities, ensuring optimal use of resources and timely completion.
  • Contributes to the design of the Unit’s processes, operating standards, and procedures.

 
Functional:

  • Researches and prepares analytical models (e.g. financial models, economic models) and undertakes quantitative analyses (e.g. break-even analysis, ROI) to support design of social investment projects and proposals.
  • Monitors and analyzes external market dynamics and trends relevant to social investment and development funding to support the development of investment marketing strategies.
  • Provides investment portfolio management support for deal sourcing, due diligence, risk assessments, drafting investment presentations, structuring and negotiation term sheets and agreements.
  • Contributes to the design and refinement of social investment marketing campaigns.
  • Assists with the development of and delivery of pitches for potential investors, partners/sponsors.
  • Cultivates effective working relationships with development funding agencies, CSI/CSR representatives in the business community, Government Agencies, and community-based activists,
  • Participates in community outreach, fora, and business networking events.
  • Contributes to the development of research designs and data collection forms. Provides data gathering and analytical support to research personnel.
  • Liaises with accounting and project personnel, donors/sponsors, partners, and other stakeholders and synthesizes findings and other analytics into progress, valuation, and social impact reports.

 
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Finance, Economics or related field.
  • Certification in Sustainable Development or Project Financing would be an asset.
  • 5-7 years’ qualified experience, preferably in working in an investments or development funding environment.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Sound knowledge of sustainability management, development economics, project financing, and risk management terms, tools, and global industry standards.
  • Demonstrated ability in quantitative methods, qualitative analysis, financial and economic modelling.
  • Applied knowledge in the use of MS Office Tools (including Excel and Powerpoint) to perform and present analytics.
  • Applied knowledge of development funding and investment marketing.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Sound knowledge of the East Port of Spain community and culture.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills.
  • Strong critical-thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to use emotional intelligence to self-regulate influence positive outcomes.
