Procurement Manager

Job Title: Procurement Manager

Purpose of Role: The Procurement Department is one that is very significant in the Supply Chain Management Process. The primary responsibility is to serve as liaison between the employer and vendor. The main duties involve sourcing , Prepare Tenders, registering  vendors, negotiating contracts and presenting to Management the best quality of service & products for the company. The role also includes the proper management & timely disposal of the Group Major Assets no longer in operations.

 

Main Accountabilities.

Based on the provided main accountabilities for a Procurement Manager in a manufacturing industry, here are some specific responsibilities that can be outlined:

 

   Lead Commodity and Vendor Management for Indirect Spend.

   Identify and assess potential vendors and commodities for indirect spend.

   Develop and implement strategies for optimizing vendor relationships and negotiating favourable terms.

   - Monitor market trends and industry dynamics to inform procurement decisions.

 

   Lead Demand Planning for Indirect Spend.

   - Collaborate with relevant departments to forecast demand for indirect goods and services.

   - Develop demand planning strategies to ensure timely availability of materials while minimizing excess inventory.

 

  Lead Supply Planning for Indirect Spend.

   - Develop and implement supply planning processes to align with demand forecasts.

   - Optimize inventory levels and lead times to support production schedules and minimize costs.

 

  Assist with Inventory Management and Innovative Methods.

   - Analyze inventory levels and identify opportunities for reducing holding costs.

   - Implement innovative methods such as lean inventory practices and technology solutions to optimize inventory     management.

 

  Manage Vendor Management for Indirect Spend.

   - Oversee vendor performance and relationship management activities.

   - Address vendor issues and implement corrective actions as necessary.

 

  Lead Procurement and Contract Administration for Indirect Spend.

   - Develop and execute procurement strategies for indirect spend categories.

   - Administer contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.

   - Manage tender and reverse auction processes to achieve cost savings and value optimization.

 

  Lead Procurement for Assigned Assets.

   - Take ownership of procurement activities related to specific assets or projects.

   - Coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet asset procurement requirements.

 

  Assist with Negotiations.

   - Support negotiations with vendors and suppliers to achieve favorable terms and conditions.

   - Collaborate with legal and finance departments to finalize contract agreements.

 

  Lead Project Management for Procurement Projects.

   - Manage procurement-related projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timelines and objectives are met.

   - Coordinate resources and stakeholders to deliver project outcomes effectively.

 

 Lead Expediting and Logistics Management for Indirect Spend.

    - Oversee expediting activities to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.

    - Coordinate logistics activities to optimize transportation and distribution processes

 

 Work with and Interface with Internal Clients and External Stakeholders.

    - Collaborate with internal departments to understand procurement needs and requirements.

    - Maintain effective communication and relationships with external suppliers and customers.

General requirements Education, Training and experience.          

•Minimum 5-10 years in a purchasing, supply chain or inventory management environment in a med- large company

• Experience with the following procurement can be an asset – (i) Food and Beverage equipment (ii) Mechanical & Electrical equipment (iii) Contract services – civil, mech, E&I (iv) Marketing (V) IT equipment (VI) Motor

•Experience with e-procurement, e-tenders and e-auctions are an asset.

•Data analysis for procurement intelligence

•Some technical experience is an asset.

 

General requirements Education, Training and experience.

•Minimum a BA or BSc degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management

• Certifications in CIPS, ISM or equivalent is desirable

•Certifications in Quality Management and Project Management is desirable

•An advanced degree e.g. MBA is an asset.

•Foreign Language skills are an asset

•MS Office, in particular excel

•Experience with ERP systems

•Communication and Negotiation

•Knowledge of Inco Terms, logistics, customs, and   procurement/ contract law

•Knowledge of Financial Accounting principles
