Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the post of Physical Education Teacher, Secondary Education, within the Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs Sports.

JOB PURPOSE

To teach/deliver all components of the physical education programme to assigned students at the Montserrat Secondary School.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach specified subject to groups of students as specified by the PE curriculum.
  • Prepare students to write overseas CSEC exams as well as guide and provide feedback on the completion of the associated SBA.
  • Instruct students assigned according to their educational needs thereby providing them with appropriate learning experiences. 
  • Plan and prepare the required schemes of work, and lesson plans for the effective delivery of the PE programme.
  • Assess and track students’ performance on a regular basis using different types of assessment formats.
  • Share and or discuss student performance with the Principal and their parents/guardians and advise on steps to be taken to improve performance.
  • Assist in promoting the welfare and well being of students and fostering their social and moral development through pastoral care.
  • Maintain the required registers and records, reports and other documents as specified by the Ministry of Education, and report on students’ attendance, behaviour, attainment and progress.
  • Contribute to the execution of extra-curricular activities and manage the care of the school’s assets and or equipment.
  • Maintain discipline among students in school, on the school grounds or when attending or participating in activities sponsored or approved by the school.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians and the wider community by engaging in Open Day sessions as well as attending PTA meetings.

 

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATIONS

The applicant should possess:-

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with focus in field and track events.
  • A Certificate, Diploma or Associate Degree in Teacher Education from an approved College or University.  
  • At least ten (10) years minimum of relevant and practical experience in the field of Physical Education with a history of teaching and delivering a PE programme in a secondary school.
  • A clean Police Character Certificate

 

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT

Appointment will be made on a contractual basis in the first instance after which permanent arrangements may be considered.

 

REMUNERATION

Salary is in the scale R16-12, that is, EC$62,292.00 – EC$68,856.00
