The marina attracts vessels ranging in size from 25 feet to over 200 feet in length, and our Marine Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring the good maintenance of the company boats as well as providing a service to visiting yachts which need mechanical services.

Job Description

Position: Marine Mechanic

Location: Turks & Caicos Collection Properties, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos

 

Marine Mechanic Duties:

  • Maintain proper operation of equipment, machinery, or mechanical devices, including engines, pumps, mechanical equipment, or electro-mechanical devices
  • Investigate malfunctioning equipment, machinery, or mechanical devices to determine source of failure
  • Replace or repair parts, using hand tools and power tools, including hoists, jacks, wrenches, and screwdrivers
  • Diagnose mechanical problems with electrical and electronic components, using electrical test equipment
  • Arrange for maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery, or mechanical devices
  • Develop operating and maintenance procedures for equipment, machinery, or mechanical devices
  • Design, test, and supervise installation of mechanical or electro-mechanical devices
  • Develop specifications or procedures to aid and improve operations.
  • Develop specifications for equipment, machinery, or mechanical devices.

Marine Mechanic Responsibilities:

  • Work with marine professionals to repair and maintain sterndrives, inboard and outboard motors, jet drives, I/O drives, stern gear, seals and hoses, and propellers
  • Install, repair, modify, or maintain diesel & gasoline engines, fuel systems, hydraulic systems, electrical and electronics systems, and marine powertrains
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance
  • Train workers and others in the use of tools, equipment, and safety procedures
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors
  • Attend and participate in networking events and seminars
  • Assist with product demonstration presentations and demonstrations

Requirements And Skills:

The following qualifications are required:

Education:

High school diploma or GED

Degree in mechanical engineering is preferable

Certifications:

Certification in Yamaha and Johnson-Evinrude outboard motors

Experience:

Proven work experience as a marine mechanic

A seasoned marine mechanic with a decade of experience in boat repair and maintenance

Skills:

Mechanical aptitude

Competency in using a variety of tools

Knowledge of inboard and outboard motors

Knowledge of Yamaha and Johnson-Evinrude motors

Training:

Training from a vocational or technical school can be useful

Employers may hire the right candidate without formal training
