The Legal Associate will be responsible for the day-to day tasks of reviewing and drafting legal documents, providing legal advice and guidance, negotiating contracts, and ensuring legal compliance.

 We are seeking to employ a Legal Associate -Compliance & Corporate Services with the experience, expertise, and integrity to add to the value of our esteemed company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Collect, examine, and organise evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparations.
  • Establish and organise legal files; monitor litigation and other calendars, general case monitoring.
  • Assist with the preparation of matters for disciplinary hearings and communicate with employees to schedule meetings, interviews, and statements regarding disciplinary hearings, personal injury matters, and other related matters.
  • Maintain all investigative and disciplinary hearings files.
  • Prepare exhibits and take statements from witnesses for hearings and complaints.
  • Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents, such as pleadings and contracts.
  • Research regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with preparing reports, case files, and legal advice.
  • Manage billings by preparing, finalising, and sending out bills, resolving billing issues and ensuring payments are made timely and efficiently in cooperation with the Accounting Department.
  • Manage, organise, and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems.
  • Provide general administrative assistance, such as maintaining the department's calendars regarding the compliance date with all regulatory bodies, suppliers, and internal commitments.
  • Advising on employment matters.
  • Collaborate with other department managers to develop the organisation’s policies on industry-specific issues, corporate governance, or regulatory affairs.
  • Actively participate in the hosting of training workshops.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with laws and best practices.

 EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor of Laws Degree or its equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years work experience in a similar position would be an asset.
  • A current Food Handler’s Permit

 REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS :

 - Proven ability to undertake general administrative duties, including preparing

  correspondence, reports, memoranda and management information, including statistical

  tables and graphs. 

- Ability to communicate at all levels and demonstrate a good standard of grammar and

   spelling.

- Strong interpersonal skills.

- Legal exposure and knowledge.

- Proven ability to organise and manage own work to meet deadlines. 

- Ability to collate, assess, prepare and present information to high standards. 

- Ability to work with information technology and associated systems. 

- Able to effectively work as part of a team to achieve results. 

- Knowledge and understanding of data protection and confidentiality standards.

- A high level of initiative, flexibility, and dependability is always displayed.
