We are searching for an Instrumentation Technician who will be responsible for repairing, reassembling and testing water meters.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Instrumentation Technician

(Based in Kingston)

 

Reporting to the Team Leader- Instrumentation and Metering, the Instrumentation Technician is responsible for repairing, reassembling and testing water meters.

 

OTHER Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing day-to-day scheduling and coordination of personnel engaged in testing installation, maintaining and repairing of instrumentation equipment and meters installation, troubleshooting and repairing of instrumentation/metering system and equipment;
  • Ensuring timely completion of corrective and predictive maintenance programs to ensure the equipment is in optimum shape and are replaced on a timely basis to facilitate the use of the most current/efficient systems;
  • Ensuring that the maintenance of the meter test bench such as valve, gauges, switches, flow meters, measuring vessels etc. are in proper working condition according to the requisite standard;
  • Ensuring that adequate spares for instrument/meter repairs are readily available and also to ensure that the orders are done for the replacement of instruments, equipment, parts etc;
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance /inspection of instruments/meters to prevent failure of the commissioned systems;
  • Preparing specification for contract work which involves making assessments of work to be done, measurements for installation etc;
  • Preparing weekly reports outlining operational problems, status of instruments and meters.

Ideally, the successful applicant should possess:

  • Diploma in Instrumentation or equivalent qualification from recognized tertiary institution;
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the instrumentation field;
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical & mechanical installation;
  • Sound knowledge of instrumentation devices maintenance and repairs;
  • Knowledge of electronic, pneumatic and microcomputer instruments used to measure and control variables such as pressure, flow and level;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
