Gardener

Performs basic maintenance, repairs and gardening tasks in the Landscaping Department.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Performs minor gardening tasks using proper horticultural techniques as taught by supervisors, such as, mowing, raking, cleaning, watering, sweeping, planting, pruning, fertilizing, and edging.
• Prunes trees and palms as directed by supervisor.
• Performs minor repairs and/or maintenance to irrigation systems and assists the supervisor of Irrigation Technician with installations.
• Reports any unusual occurrences to management such as, broken branches, coconut trees needing cleaning, broken sprinkler heads, pest infestations, missing plants, holes and other hazards.
• Helps unload and load trucks as directed.
• Picks up and disposes of trash and litter as determined by the supervisors.
• Performs safe lifting tasks with such items as planters, fertilizers, garbage bins, plants, mowers, and other items, as requested by the supervisor.
• Uses company mechanical equipment and vehicles in a safe and proper manner. Performs simple preventative maintenance tasks on equipment and vehicles as requested or needed. Checks for proper gas and oil before each start up.
• Perform other reasonable duties that may be requested from time to time.
• The Company operates a twenty-four (24) hour business. Therefore, you will be rostered to work shifts, which may change from time to time.

• Minimum High school diploma or equivalent vocational training
• Minimum 2 years formal work experience, basic knowledge of landscaping and horticulture
• Valid Drivers license
