The Crew Commander will carry out Rescue duties in emergency situations and directly supervise the fire-fighters under their command, as detailed within the Ambergris Cay Fire Service Structure.

 Overview

The Crew Commander will carry out Rescue duties in emergency situations and directly supervise the fire-fighters under their command, as detailed within the Fire Service Structure.

 Key Responsibilities: 

• Act in the absence of the Watch Manager (if suitably qualified).
• Responsible for acting within the terms of reference detailed for Watch Level Competency Based Training.
• To instigate disciplinary procedures when necessary.
• Assist with the delivery and Supervision of commercial training.
• Act upon and advise the Fire Service Management team regarding issues on welfare, equalities and fairness.
• Where necessary undertake additional training for specialist skills.
• Responsible for team building and motivation as part of the line management of the department.
• Assist in environmental safeguarding and compliance.
• When required by the FSM, to assist in aspects of community relations.
• Ensure that they have a basic awareness of general and financial administration.
• To undertake auditing of station routines, training and defect recording systems.
• Complete documentation and produce reports as required.
• Supervise and participate in Fire Service general duties including cleaning.
• Contribute towards compliance and understanding of the Fire Safety, Accident Reporting/Investigation and First-aid at work legislation.
• Contributing to the support and development of all colleagues.
• Assist with the recruitment and development of probationary fire-fighters.
• Maintain an acceptable fitness level to perform the role as detailed within the Fire Service Fitness programme. 

Qualifications

• Acquisition of the necessary Operational Expertise and Experience to carry out the role.

• Holder of a CAA/ICAO Crew Commander Certificate.
• Have acquired Information Technology skills to prove competence at writing reports, producing learning material and to operate all general station admin software, computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office.
• Be prepared to work towards achieving the Vocational and Academic qualifications required to meet the Watch Manager Application Criteria.
• Be prepared to Continually Develop Personal knowledge and expertise as determined by the Watch Manager.
