Develop, update, or adapt Environmental policies and procedures in the areas of Safety, Terminal operations, Road transportation, Retail, and other business segments and functions

Reports To: Regional Manager

Purpose: As part of the HSE/OE corporate teams, the position provides subject matter expert (SME), hands-on support, and guidance on environmental stewardship and compliance across Sol countries, ensuring that all operating standards and practices that fall under Parkland’s Operational Excellence Program (POEMS) are applied consistently. This is achieved by partnering with Operations Mgrs., the Infrastructure Team, HSE Focal Points in each territory, Legal and Finance teams and Parkland HSE Corporate in Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide SME technical support and training to all HSE/OE critical positions in Sol in all environmental areas,
including product stewardship, spill recording, regulatory compliance, waste management, 
and environmental management of projects.

Coordinate oil spill response preparedness reviews, participate in drills and equipment deployment exercises,
and identify areas for improvement. Offer support related to spill equipment, checklists, inspection, and maintenance.

Member of Sol Corporate Incident Command System (ICS) for Emergency Response and,
as needed, country ICS in all matters relating to the environment.

Ensure adoption and application of POEMS in Sol countries per Parkland’s directives.

Develop, update, or adapt Environmental policies and procedures in the areas of Safety,
Terminal operations, Road transportation, Retail, and other business segments and functions.

Help develop, deploy, and track the progress of yearly HSE and OE plans (Operations Activity Plans etc.)
 regarding the environment for Sol countries.

Member of audit teams.
Provide input to Finance for the Management of Environmental Liability, including asset retirement obligations (ARO) 
and environmental reserves.

Support and oversee ongoing remediation projects, environmental due diligence during tank
replacements, environmental assessments for investments and divestments, liability estimation, 
and all other operational activity as required. This includes liaising with local Sol markets, engineers, 
third-party environmental consultants, and other industry stakeholders as required.

Development of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives aligned with Parkland strategy.
 
Qualifications:
Environmental or Engineering professional with a university degree in Engineering, Science, or equivalent qualification.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in HSE, Environment, Operations, or Engineering.

Working knowledge of the petroleum industry is required.

Certifications or accreditations, such as sponsorship of engineering bodies, Project Management Institute,
and others, are a plus.

Proficient in MS Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project
