Join our team at Goddard Enterprises Ltd - (GEL) and become a part of a continuously expanding and financially sound multinational conglomerate which has a robust presence across six diverse industries, spanning over 100 companies, strategically positioned in twenty-seven (27) countries in the Caribbean, Latin America and North America.

 

The Automotive Division within GEL comprises several entities. These companies serve as authorized dealerships for Nissan and Hyundai brands in Barbados, and exclusively for Nissan in JamaicaSt. Lucia, and St. Vincent. Additionally, the division boasts a diverse portfolio that includes the renowned Hertz Rental Brand, operating exclusively in Barbados and Guyana. Within this division, the respective companies offer a range of services, including authentic parts, mechanical and electrical workshops, body shops, tire services, and the manufacturing and retailing of vehicle batteries.

We are looking for an experienced and talented Chief Executive Officer to lead our Automotive Division. This position reports to the GEL Managing Director.

THE ROLE: 

As CEO, the successful candidate will be responsible for steering the strategic direction, financial health, and overall success of the Automotive Division across the region. The CEO’s leadership will shape the organization’s growth, innovation, and market presence.

 

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Vision:

  • Develop and communicate a clear vision for the Division aligned to the Group’s purpose.
  • Develop and implement short- and long-term strategies for the Division in collaboration with the executive team and board of directors.
  • Oversee all inquiries and negotiations related to mergersjoint ventures, the acquisition of other dealerships, or the sale of significant assets, subject to board approval.

Financial Management:

  • Drive financial performance, including revenue and profitability growth, and cost control.
  • Determine budgets, resources, and procedures by collaborating with cross-functional teams across the Division.

Operational Excellence:

  • Streamline operations, optimize processes, enhance efficiency and quality standards across all departments in each operating company.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to operations, sales, and service.
  • Anticipate and adapt to industry disruptions.

Market Positioning and Growth:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, forge strategic partnerships, and evaluate potential acquisitions.
  • Provide counsel, guidance, and authorisation for significant dealership plans and procedures, ensuring alignment with established policies and board approval.
  • Enhance brand visibility and customer engagement in all markets.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Mitigate risks related to regulatory changes, supply chain disruptions, and economic fluctuations.
  • Ensure compliance with legal obligations, environmental, and safety standards and all regulations with respect to trade and international standards.

Stakeholder Relations:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with shareholders, investors, joint venture partners, management, employees, suppliers, and industry peers.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.

People Leadership and Talent Development:

  • Recruit, mentor, and retain top talent.
  • Cultivate a work environment that fosters collaboration, to drive employee engagement.
  • Provide strategic direction to the management team.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Marketing or related field (Master’s degree is an asset).
  • Proven experience as a CEO or in a senior executive leadership role.
  • Proven track record of successful leadership in the automotive industry is an asset.
  • Visionary mindset with the ability to balance short-term goals and long-term vision.
  • Demonstrated success in driving business growth and achieving financial targets.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to make sound decisions in a dynamic business environment.
  • Knowledge of international and regional regulatory compliance.
  • A foreign language would be an asset.
