IGL was recently acquired by Massy Holdings Limited (Trinidad and Tobago) and is the principal supplier of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to the manufacturing, fast food, hotel and tourism industry, as well as for a host of industrial and commercial users including bakeries and dry cleaners across Jamaica.  About the Role and the Person

 

Reporting to the Financial Controller (FC), the Business Analyst will provide solid professional and technical support to both the FC and CEO with a focus on cutting edge and efficient analysis and reporting of data to facilitate decision-making. He/ she will prepare business reports and other presentations that will provide a range of internal and external data/information to support senior management decision-making; analyze both the financial and commercial operational aspects of the business and make recommendations for improvement. 

 

He/ she will be passionate about the gas industry, a curious meta-thinker and a confident presenter on financial reporting. As an innovative contributor, he/she will constantly check and question information and identify new approaches to enhance the mandate of the role.

 

IGL has other specialists and business analysts who will collaborate with this role, and provide data and analysis, in support of the FC and CEO. 

 

The Business Analyst has the following core responsibilities to:

 

  • Carry out analysis on a range of internal and external data/information (including GL and sub ledgers and business KPIs and Metrics) to support the FC and senior management decision-making including feasibility and Return on Investment (ROI) analyses.
  • Compute margin and volume reports in line with the month end close and advise of any significant variance, actual vs budget.
  • Compute fleet efficiency and inventory management analyses. 
  • Review and update reporting systems and applications as required to match business changes.
  • Assist with updating the inventory/logistics processes and established reporting definitions/systems to ensure that adequate reports are always available.
  • Contribute to and lead the creation of deliverables, including KPI’s, general reports, spreadsheets, presentations and other documents and communicate findings effectively to the CFO and to the CEO for monthly management meetings.
  • Compute and provide data and summary analyses for the commercial team, including price survey data, margin and volume analysis, to include historical and current data.
  • Prepare weekly price change documentation as required.
  • Execute the completion of Monthly Sales Commission report for submission to payroll.
  • Prepare draft, and complete annual budget files using information supplied by the Commercial Team.
  • Assist in identifying performance gaps and trends based on analysis of significant operational issues.
  • Prepare weekly updates on the receivable status to keep all internal stakeholders informed, so that necessary corrective action may be taken in a timely manner.
  • Analyze new business offerings, summarize financial and operational data, track and report on results for presentation to the relevant senior managers.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliation of assigned Trade Receivables, General Ledger vs Subledger.

 

Qualifications, Experience and Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounts or Information Technology.
  • Minimum 5 years accounting experience with responsibilities to analyze data and prepare reports.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Industry experience is an asset but not a requirement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with excellent use of excel spreadsheets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • An eye for detail and aesthetics.
  • Ability to prepare accurate, comprehensive and timely reports.
  • Experience in business and financial analysis, as well as skills in financial modelling, database, and spreadsheet management.
  • Self-motivated, outstanding work ethic and tenacious.
  • Track record for building strong relationships and closing deals.
  • Highly organized with penchant for meeting deadlines and business promises and obligations.
  • People-oriented and a passion for developing talent and managing performance to a high standard.
