The Biomedical Technician is responsible for installation of medical equipment, ensuring that it is operating to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Main Responsibilities:
Assembles, maintains and repairs basic electronic devices according to their specification.
Install, repair, maintain, calibrate and inspect biomedical medical equipment and instrumentation, including life-support equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices and systems.
Diagnose and solves system and equipment malfunctions by making repair milestone or completion.
Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections and equipment repairs and failures.
Provide technical assistance and instructions to staff regarding equipment operation and maintenance.
Review the outcome of preventative maintenance actions and make recommendations to the department’s staff concerning improvements.
Works closely with management to develop and implement a plan for professional growth.
Perform on call duties.
Minimum Requirements:
Must have a First Degree in Biomedical Technology or a related degree.
Must have at least two (2) years’ experience in maintenance of biomedical equipment, including life-support equipment or in a related technical field.
MLT qualification will be considered an asset.
Proficient in the use of computers with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Any equivalent combination of training and qualification in the related field.
