Production Manager

 

Position’s Title : Production Manager


Job Purpose/Summary 

As Production Manager you will be responsible for ensuring that the factory, layout and machinery used to produce the Company’s products are maintained and capable of operating at their maximum efficiency and output at all times. This includes total predictive and preventative maintenance of equipment, managing breakdowns of mechanical, electrical and robotic equipment (including software programming). You will be responsible to gain an in-depth understanding of the function of each piece of equipment and its role in the overall operation of the facility. The job also includes people management and budgetary/cost reporting.

 

Core Functions/Duties/Responsibilities 

  1. Gain an in-depth knowledge of the operation of each piece of equipment and be fully capable of operating same.
  2. Organize workflow to meet production specifications and deadlines.
  3. Maintain and repair Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic systems, and equipment.
  4.  Assist in running an efficient production and maintenance department which is able to fulfil operational and customer demand and meet targets.
  5. Manage maintenance projects.
  6. Responsible for the safety of individuals on the team and that of those impacted by any maintenance activity.
  7. Understand and work in accordance with the company’s quality requirements.
  8. Perform effective diagnosis of breakdowns and timely repair of equipment to maximize availability.
  9. Perform scheduled planned preventative maintenance in accordance to minimize unplanned downtime.
  10. Record and document all work carried out on all equipment on both paper and electronic systems as is required.
  11. Analysis of issues to root cause and development of countermeasures, improvement actions and/or suggestions to improve.
  12. Control and source maintenance tools, equipment and spares.
  13. Document breakdowns, identifying root cause and remedial action to help identify and resolve recurring issues. Utilize Predictive Maintenance techniques to assist in developing replacement of soon to fail parts and refurbishment schedules.
  14. Understand and work in accordance with mandatory requirements of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
  15. Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department.

Educational Requirements, Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial System, Engineering or related field would be an asset
  • Two (2) to five (5) years manufacturing and maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Strong competence with MS Office Suite of software (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Word, Outlook).
