Network Administrator (On Contract) - Job ID# 14068

OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE

  • To ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer network across the company at all sites, and to provide communications services to all users as required.
  • Plans, develops, installs, configures, secures, maintains, supports, and optimizes all aspects of the network and communication infrastructure.
  • Deliver a high quality of service, as agreed by the business, from the network.

FUNCTIONS

  • Manages all network hardware: switches, routers, firewalls & unified threat management appliances, wireless access points, to meet user, device and application accessibility and security requirements.
  • Responsible for Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs) connecting all sites, Wireless LANs (WLANs), Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) allowing users to connect securely while remote, and Internet services.
  • Designs, implements, monitors, and optimises security controls on network perimeters and within networks as two of the defence-in-depth layers of security through the company’s technology and information architecture.
  • Develops and administers policies and procedures for the network related to Asset Management, Configuration Management, and Availability Management.
  • Regularly reviews and evolves the network design to meet the organization’s requirements and goals factoring in capacity and obsolescence.
  • Achieves Service Level Agreements (SLA) using monitoring & reporting and routine performance testing. Reports on SLA adherence on a regular basis.
  • Executes installs, moves, adds, changes, and maintenance of physical aspects of the network such as all network equipment, cabling, patch panels, network cabinets, etc.
  • Interfaces with internal units:
    • Data Centre for capacity and performance reviews
    • Facilities for electrical and structured cabling
    • Helpdesk for ticketing and call management
    • Cybersecurity for controls and protections
  • Administers mobile phone services for the company including the management of mobile plans, handsets, and contracts.
  • Administers telephone services for the company, administration of the PBX and related components, telephone services, and contracts.
  • Responsible for the management of network services from providers. Vendor and contract management, service capacity, and cost reporting; including recommendations on cost optimization.
  • Prepares annual budgets for network and communications.
  • Performs all other duties assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The minimum requirements for the position are:

  • Bachelor’s in Information Technology, Information and Communications Technology, or Computer Science
  • Certification in CCNP or equivalent
  • Certification in ITIL Foundation would be an asset
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in the field with at least two (2) years at a supervisory level.
  • Previous experience with Dell networking equipment would be an asset
