JOB SUMMARY:

The Enterprise Risk Manager will report to the Head of Strategy and Analytics. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust risk management framework to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks across the organization. This role ensures the organization's operations, reputation, and financial performance are safeguarded through effective risk mitigation strategies.

 

KEY DELIVERABLES:

  1. Develops and implements a comprehensive enterprise risk management framework and strategy, aligned with the organisation's goals and objectives.
  2. Identifies, assesses, and prioritizes risks across various business functions, including operational, financial, strategic, and reputational risks.
  3. Conducts risk assessments, utilizing appropriate risk identification techniques, to evaluate the likelihood and potential impact of identified risks.
  4. Develops and implements risk mitigation plans and controls to minimise exposure to identified risks.
  5. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of risk management measures, making necessary adjustments and improvements as needed.
  6. Provides guidance and support to business units in identifying and managing risks, including the development of risk mitigation action plans.
  7. Collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure risk management policies, procedures, and practices are effectively communicated and implemented.
  8. Prepares and presents risk reports to senior management and the board of directors, highlighting key risk areas, mitigation efforts, and progress.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

You will have a Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field with five (5) years’ experience in an enterprise risk environment in a state enterprise or similar type organisation with level of complexity. A Master's degree in Risk or Professional certifications such as Certified Risk Manager (CRM) or Certified Enterprise Risk Manager (CERM) is an asset.

  • Problem Solving : Analyses data, prioritize key issues and creates solutions to problems; suggests efficiency and quality improvements within the work area.
  • Analytical Thinking – Exhibits exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to identify potential risks, evaluate their potential impact, and recommend appropriate risk management measures.
  • Personal Attributes—Uses initiative; can act with minimum supervision; is reliable by demonstrating a consistent pattern of satisfactory attendance; and works consistently with a positive, friendly, ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Compliance Knowledge—Stays updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance with risk management frameworks and legal requirements.
  • Adaptability - Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment, adjusting risk management strategies and approaches as needed to address emerging risks and changing business needs.

 

Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards regarding risk management and compliance is crucial. Proficiency in risk management software and tools is desirable, and the candidate should demonstrate strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously. A high level of integrity, ethics, and professionalism is necessary to handle sensitive and confidential information with utmost care.
