Electrical & Instrumentation Technician

Job Summary:

The E&I Technician performs electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities and projects. The E&I Technician reports to the Service Manager and is responsible for the fabrication, installation, inspection, testing adjustment and repair of electronic, electro-mechanical and pneumatic control circuits and systems.

 

Key Responsibilities - Job Functions:

  • Install, maintain, and repair industrial control systems and power distribution systems including electric motors, motor control devices, variable frequency drives etc.
  • Maintain pump/water instrumentation including analytical, flow, pressure, and level transmitters.
  • Maintain computer equipment including Telemetry systems, HMI software, programmable logic controllers and process systems.
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance and calibrations to all electrical, instrumentation and process equipment.
  • Maintain accurate equipment files such as maintenance and inventory logs, manuals and blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of motor control circuits.
  • Understanding of electrical codes.
  • Proficient is all Microsoft office products.
  • Read and understand manuals, blueprints, schematics, and P&ID drawings.
  • Understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain a professional effective working relationship with associates and to positively interact with all levels of employees and members of the public.
  • Ascertain priorities and meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Exercise sound judgment and decision-making in all phases of responsibilities.
  • Carry out all other duties assigned.

  • Comply with the OSH Act 2004 and Amendment Act 2006.
  • Comply with all ROIL HSE Management System Policies and Procedures.
  • Accountable for HSE performance throughout the Company.
  • Co-operate with supervisors and managers on health and safety matters.
  • Do not interfere with systems, procedures or safeguards provided to protect their health and safety.
  • Take reasonable care of his/her own health and safety.
  • Report all health and safety concerns to the HSE & HR Manager.
  • Inform HSE & HR Manager when special waste in your area needs disposing.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or practices to your superior and the HSE & HR Manager.
  • Observe and comply all safety rules and regulations.
  • Know how to perform jobs assigned and perform them properly.
  • Not undertaking any job you do not understand. Ask your immediate superior if there are any questions or any doubt.
  • Wear/use all safety equipment required by the job to be performed.
  • Participate in safety meetings held by your superior.
  • Report all injuries immediately to your superior.
  • Cooperate with supervisors when injury and accident investigations are being done so that accident causes can be determined and corrective action taken.
  • Report any and all defective tools or equipment immediately.

 

 HSE Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Champion and comply with organizational rules.
  • Intervene whenever deviations from the organisational rules for HSE performance is observed.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the work that is being carried out in their areas of responsibility and be able to talk about the risks and control measures associated with the work.
  • Comply with all legal requirements of Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Engage employees on HSE issues via one on one HSE conversations or via group conversations.
  • Demonstrate HSE leadership on and off the job.
  • Lead and participate in HSE meetings where they communicate with employees on HSE issues.
  • Always wear appropriate/necessary PPE for the work area.

 

 HSE Behaviours

  • There should be no involvement in practical jokes, commonly referred to as “horse-play”.
  • Adherence to all HSE rules of the organisation at all times.
  • Report all accidents or incidents to a supervisor.
  • Stop work that is unsafe and report the occurrence to a supervisor.

 

Candidate Profile:

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • At least 5 years prior experience in a senior E&I technician position (with Cleaver Brooks Experience).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of First Aid, risk analysis and mitigation.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Skilled in the standards, concepts, practices, and procedures within the health, safety and environmental fields.
  • Ability to work at all levels within and organization and the ability to work in a diverse work group.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills. Highly self-motivated and enthusiastic.

 

Key Deliverables:

  • Weekly updates on ongoing jobs.
  • Must be proficient in report writing.
  • All reports must be delivered to Service Manager within a 48 hour period.
  • Providing a zero accident environment as far as reasonably possible.
